North Cadbury Court to feature in US luxury travel show

North Cadbury Court will feature in a top US luxury travel show at the end of March.

Its owner Archie Montgomery welcomed Susan Li - anchorwoman of American news organisation’s CNBC show First Class - for a day of filming.

The show will feature Susan trying out a 12-bore shotgun, testing British tweed for size and having a go at golf on the roof.

The luxury stately home in the village of North Cadbury is renowned for its facilities including a casino in the old wine cellars and rooftop golf tee.

The American TV presenter who was too sexy for an English country estate: Reporter turns up in tight dress and high heels - but is forced to change into tweed and wellies

An American TV presenter who turned up at an English country house to film wearing a dress and high heels was forced to change into a tweed outfit by the owner who took exception to her appearance.

CNBC presenter Susan Li visited North Cadbury Court in Wincanton, Somerset to film a travel piece about the 1,500-acre estate's Downton Abbey-style holidays.

BBC Countryfile’s Adam Henson was present at a gathering held at North Cadbury Court on Tuesday which brought together more than 40 ‘old boys’ who had been part of a scheme, British Boys for British Farms, which ran from 1932 to 1966 and saw 20,000 students, from all walks of life, get the chance to try their hand at farming.

The event, designed to celebrate Somerset Style, was in aid of local charity Flying Colours which is urgently raising funds for a new Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil Hospital.

An event in the village's St Michael's Church will explore the connections between Jane and the Rev Blackall.

Ron Wood, author, musician and priest, will speculate on her visits and the names of Benet, Wickham and Wentworth, which can be found on memorial plaques in the church, and also Admiral Croft.

Angela Barlow, actor of film, stage, television and radio, will then present Jane Austen and Character - An Actor's View.

JOCKEYS are swapping their horses for the catwalk to raise money to help premature and poorly babies.

Paul Nicholls' yard in Ditcheat has provided male models for the Rocking the Catwalk fashion show next week.

The event is being held to raise money for the Flying Colours Appeal, which is raising £500,000 for a new Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil Hospital.

The show is being produced by Somerset stylist and wardrobe consultant Natasha Musson and it involves a number of national designers and brands.

Sir Bob Geldof gave an exclusive performance to 250 invited guests at a Somerset country house last night to support a new organisation aiming to turn around the lives of young offenders while they are still in prison.

The event at North Cadbury Court, near Wincanton, where Key4Life announced the launch of an innovative new programme.

It hopes to address the fact that 74 per cent of young offenders between the ages of 15 and 17 are likely to re-offend within one year.
